2009 Wedding Trends
Planning a wedding this year? 2009 promises to be a year full of
simple style and understated elegance when it comes to weddings
despite the financial shortcomings. The key lies in style, not in
opulence. Here are the top trends for weddings this year:
Nature-inspired Weddings
From decor to invitations, weddings are expected to become more and
nature-inspired. Couples love incorporating nature into their
weddings and seasonal themes are a favorite. And keeping in mind the
financial disturbance sweeping through the world, nothing could be
more desirable. Seasonal flowers and foliage decorates a wedding
venue to perfection and gives you the satisfaction of an
eco-friendly wedding. Even invitations can be printed on natural
paper and other natural elements can be incorporated into it.
Even wedding dress designers have unveiled their collections for
this year most of them featuring leaf and flower details. Vera
Wang's signature bows have been replaced by huge fabric roses.
Colored Wedding Dresses
While most brides never dream of anything but white, more and more
brides and looking for colored wedding dresses in keeping with their
themes and chosen wedding colors. Brown and red have always been
sought after, but gray and champagne wedding gowns are making a big
appearance in 2009 collections. See more

Vintage Inspired
Everything vintage is in! While that may not be the most surprising
sentence spoken generally, it is when said with regards to weddings.
The first item to give in to the vintage trend is certainly the
wedding dress. Antique lace is being sought after to create
custom-made vintage inspired wedding dresses in ateliers across the
world. Wearing heirloom wedding dresses, if you have one, is also
one of the hippest ideas this year.
But vintage is not restricted to just the wedding dress. Lace and
ruffles and fine vintage embroidery are finding their way to
reception tables, favor bags and table linens. Classic decor with
pearl encrusted ribbons and old-fashioned swags and garlands are
adorning walls and circling tables to decorate the venues.
Personalizing
Like the past few years, personalizing almost everything at a
wedding is in. Monogramming table linen, favors, invitations,
cutlery, china and the wedding cake is a classic touch that will
never go out of fashion. Personalized gifts for bridesmaids and
groomsmen is also a much appreciated trend. A personalized wedding
or guest book and
Throwing in Color
Color will be added in the most unexpected places at 2009 weddings.
And it may begin right with the ring! All colorful precious and
semi-precious stones are being used to make engagement and wedding
rings more interesting and planning the entire wedding around the
color of the stone used (or vice versa). Even those who wish to stay
with the traditional diamond are using other stones as complimentary
stones around the diamond to accentuate the ring.
Black and red are being used to accentuate every typically white
detail at a wedding including ravishing wedding dresses. Fuchsia,
aqua, purple, burgundy, orange etc. are the bright palettes brides
are choosing for their weddings. Bright and bold color combinations
are also increasing as choices although majority of the brides still
prefer earthy tones, pastels colors or are only choosing bold colors
to accentuate whites and creams. See more

Style Quotient
Style and sophistication will be high this year. Most brides are
walking into the offices of wedding planners demanding a 'do' free
of balloons, pigeons and similar details. The demand is for
understated elegance with some amount of glamour. They are ready to
do away with rituals such as throwing of rice and confetti and are
concentrating instead on doing things differently like having
invitations hand-delivered, choosing non-traditional dance songs
etc.
Simple but expensive decorations, design and dresses will be
preferred although the expenses might lead some weddings to be
smaller in size but couples do not seem to be shrinking away from a
smaller guest list.
