Inspiring Wedding Ideas from ‘Bridesmaids’
A French/Parisian Theme Bridal Shower
Helen goes out of the way to make this bridal shower bigger than the best. You could borrow ideas as creative, if not as opulent, for your shower! The French themed shower starts with invitations sent in a pink and white striped box with a tiny box inside that, when opened, releases a butterfly. The box also contains a candle customized with the names of the bride and the groom and a molded figurine. The inside of the lid has the invitation written on.
The guests are served pink lemonade as they enter and partially ride on horsebacks to the venue. The color scheme of the fabric and upholstery used in the garden is pink and white. The sit out areas are black and white with red and pink accents in the form of cushions on the couches and break the pink monotony. The centerpiece of the outdoor shower is a mini replica creation of the Eiffel tower and a real fountain is turned into a chocolate fountain (seen in the window above Ellie Kemper’s head). The waiters serve champagne and hors d’oeuvres wearing berets and swans move around the gardens. A large heart-shaped cookie with the bride and groom’s names sits in one corner.
More ‘Eiffel Towers’ are placed as decorations. French ‘toile’ fabric is used for curtains for sit-out areas in the garden and the tablecloth above . The shady sit outs have French style ‘fainting couches’ or the ‘chaise lounges’. The return gifts are live puppies. They are not French poodles but do wear cute little pink berets.
Pink and White Wedding Color Scheme
An eternal favorite- white with hot pink. The bride’s white dress has a hot pink sash while the bridesmaids wear strapless (except McCarthy’s) hot pink dresses. The bouquets have light pink roses.
White and Mauve/Purple Color Scheme
The actual dresses worn at the wedding in the movie. The bride is in all white (no accents) and the bridesmaids are in lovely mauve dresses. Bouquets are all white with some touches of green.
White and Multi Color Scheme
Why not? Every one has different tastes, body shapes and personalities. Let your bridesmaids choose different dresses. If that sounds a little too daunting, have them choose a similar color (varying shades) or a similar style or all solids or of a particular fabric material.
