What Not to Forget to Do When Organising Your Friends Wedding
Weddings can be stressful, expensive, and downright disastrous affairs. So if you’ve been entrusted to organise your friend’s wedding – good luck with that! Seriously though, planning a wedding is hard work, so we hope your friend is rewarding you in one way or another. To help you out as the big day draws near, we thought we’d tell you what not to forget to do – or feel the wrath of the blushing bridezilla.
Don’t Forget to Make it About the Couple
One huge mistake people make when planning a wedding is forgetting to inject it with a little bit of the couple’s personalities. So many weddings these days are cliche, and well…the same. We’re sure your friend doesn’t want that for their special day! The day should reflect their life as a couple; what food they like, songs they like, colours – everything!
Don’t Forget What’s Important
Remember that although weddings are big part of our tradition, there is also an industry behind it. Some people who work in that industry might try to advise you to include certain things, and these things will almost certainly cost more money. Remember what’s important to the couple – do they really need a limo? Or would they rather invest in excellent wedding photography to cherish forever? We know what we’d rather have!
Don’t Forget What a Wedding is Really About
The actual wedding ceremony should be the main event, while the reception is simply celebrating that event. Make sure the music at the wedding, the vows, and the readings make the ceremony one to remember.
Don’t Forget to Plan for Disaster
So, you’ve planned an outdoor wedding but you haven’t planned for rain. You can never trust the weather – always assume the worst will happen. It’s so important that you plan for disaster – in rain’s case, that means having an alternate location planned. Also have a bridal emergency kit on hand containing makeup, a comb, hair pins, a sewing kit, and anything else you might possibly need!
Don’t Forget to Keep the Bride Under Control the Night Before the Wedding
The hen night was the night you all should have gone out, and gone a little bit crazy – drank too much, danced with strippers, the norm. The bride might want to have a couple of bevvies the night before her wedding, and that’s fine. Just make sure you keep that chick under control! It isn’t wise for any of you to be waking up with bad heads, bad bellies, puffy skin, or anything of the sort.
Don’t Forget to Include the Groom
Come on, it’s the 21st century. Of course the groom should be included in the plans and decision making! You want him to have a great day too right? Even if you simply include a colour he likes in the colour scheme, or add a food into the buffet – it’s got to count for something!
Remember; when planning a wedding you should always focus on what’s important to the couple. Keeping everybody calm on the day is a big skill too – make sure everybody is taking deep breaths, and above all else: keeping their sense of humour!
