Winter Wedding Flowers
While most weddings do occur in the spring and summer, about 11% of all wedding ceremonies occur during the winter months. A winter wedding offers a great option to use the rich red, green and deep blue colors that are accentuated by the white of the snow. In addition any bright colored exotic flowers can be used to highlight the bouquet and wedding decorations, and are not as costly as you might think when used sparingly.
Below is an outline of the traditional flower that are used in winter weddings, plus also some unique and creative options for exotic flowers that can be the focus of flower arrangements. Due to the increase in worldwide shipment of fresh flowers brides are much less restricted than they used to be when it comes to winter wedding floral arrangements. For most professionally arranged bouquets the cost will be between $75.00 and $200.00, depending on the size and variety of flowers that are used. The more exotic the flowers the more costly the bouquet, but also the more original and unique it will be.
November Wedding Flowers
In November whites are very popular for flowers. There are many different shades of white ranging from almost beige to a slight pinkish tinge so make sure that you get the correct white. Roses, tulips, hellebore, freesia and daisies make a nice color arrangement. Use soft greenery as an accent, and keep all accessories such as ribbons soft and light. For a beautiful trailing bouquet stephanotis can be combined with champagne colored roses that blend wonderfully with orchids and lilies.
December Wedding Flowers
December brides tend to focus on highlighting the colors of the season. Greenery often plays a big role in bouquets and arrangements, and deep burgundy or red roses or calla lilies, arranged with babys breath and small mini carnations are traditional favorites. Some bouquets and arrangements also use the traditional poinsettia flowers with silver and gold dried accents, or amaryllis and holly branches with berries are also great for table arrangements. For a completely original look asters and tulips can be used to bring out strikingly deep reds and pure whites.
January Wedding Flowers
For brides that are looking towards a change from the Christmas colors deep blues and purples are favorites for January weddings. Iris, freesia, heather or statice come in a variety of blue and purples, and these colors look terrific with silver or frosted colors of ribbons or accents. White roses or freesia add a wonderful shimmer to the arrangements, and reflect candlelight or give a romantic touch. It is important to match the shades in the bouquet with the dresses worn by the bridesmaids so be sure to bring a swatch of fabric with you to get the right match.
Dried or live hydrangeas have become a current trend for January weddings. Their soft pastel colors and variations add depth to a bouquet.
February Wedding Flowers
With Valentines Day falling in the month of February traditionally roses, either red or white or pink in combination with carnations and lilies have been used for brides bouquets and decorations. The combination of these flowers is excellent for long-lasting displays, as all three of these flowers tend to be very good in cut arrangements. For a more modern look Peruvian lilies are a wonderful choice as they offer a wide variety of colors and blend well with other flowers.
