Planning a Unique Wedding
Your wedding is one of the most important and magical days of your life. But, when you’re going to weddings every other weekend, it can be hard to think of ways to make yours different. You want it to be special, romantic and memorable, but surely everything has been done before? Here are some great ways to make sure your wedding is unique and stands out from the rest.
Don’t Worry About the Venue
When you go to view venues and Function rooms, you’ll find a lot of them look quite similar. But, there is a lot you can do with them. So, don’t worry about it too much unless you’ve got a particular, meaningful location in mind. Instead, make sure you get somewhere that offers everything you need (catering, a drinks license, music, location etc.) and is good value for money. Then, think about how to make that venue your own magical location for the day of your wedding.
Add Some Personal Touches
The best way to make your wedding unique is to make it personal. Use your favorite colors, add your initials or the wedding date to things and make sure your favorite music is played. When it comes to food and drink, serve something that means something to you, perhaps the meal you ate on your first date or at a special occasion. Think of your relationship, and any special times and find ways to incorporate them into your day.
Ignore the Guides
If you go on Pinterest and search “weddings” hundreds and thousands of results will come up. But, you know what? Everyone does this nowadays. Every wedding is based on another. Instead, read guides on saving money and perfecting your day.
Do it Yourself
While it’s easier to find a wedding planner and hire people to do as much as the hard work as possible, this can take some of your influence out of the day. Try to either do things yourself or make sure you use people that share and understand your vision for the day. Don’t be afraid to be demanding, it is, after all, your big day.
Go Against Tradition
Weddings tend to still be incredibly traditional. But, one way to make yours different is by ignoring some traditions. Think about what you really want. If you don’t want speeches, don’t have them. If you’re not bothered about a stuffy sit down meal, have a hot food buffet and if you don’t want flowers, decorate with balloons and bunting and carry a stylish clutch bag, so you’ve got something to do with your hands. Keep what you want of the traditional ceremony, get rid of the rest.
Remember, it’s unique because it’s yours. Even if it’s exactly the same as every other wedding, to you, it will be different. Don’t get to hung up on trying to be different and focusing on all the tiny details. Instead, think about what you really want from your day and don’t worry about what anyone else wants or thinks. Good luck and congratulations.
