A vase full of flowers is nicebut typical. Add a touch of spice to your wedding reception with some of the following ideas for centerpieces and tabletop décor.
Flowers do, of course, help to make a wedding lovely, but consider choosing something besides a vase to keep them in. Anything with sides and a bottom can be transformed into a container. Consider the following vase alternatives: floral china teapots (purchased at flea markets or antique stores), carnival glassware, small fishbowls (perfect for a beach wedding), glass pitchers, etc
Or, choose a wreath of flowers to encircle such centerpieces as cherubs, oil lamps, candles, crystal lamps with beaded shades, portrait arrangements of bride and groom, easel with tables guest book, small birdhouse, glass sculpture, crystal bowl filled with floating candles, etc
A nice touch might be to arrange several bud vases and blooms for all the women seated at each table. Or, a cake pedestal arranged with guest favors makes for a fine centerpiece as well.
