How to Wear Hair Extensions for a Party, Prom or Wedding the Right Way
If you plan on attending a wedding, party or prom, then you might want to think about adding a few clip-in hair extensions to your outfit to really nail the look that you’re going for. One of the best things about hair extensions and wigs for women is that you can change the look and color of your hair without any risk of damaging it or getting a look that you hate. It you don’t like the way your wigs or extensions look, all you have to do is remove them. If you do decide to enhance the look of your hair for a special occasion, you’ll want to make sure that you do it right.
The Basic Ponytail
Ponytails are a great choice for any event, but you’ll want to add a little glamour if you plan on wearing a ponytail to a special event. Add a few hair extensions if strands of your natural hair poke out whenever you wear a ponytail. If you like, have some fun and add a variety of highlights to your hair. If you have split ends, clip-in hair extensions will be a godsend.
To pull off the look, you’ll need a claw clip, a rattail comb and a few wide hair extensions. If you want your ponytail to be especially full and lustrous, you have the option of getting a few extension pieces that are two inches wide to fluff up the sides and middle of your ponytail.
After you’ve used a comb to brush your hair into sections at the bottom, use clips to keep the rest of your hair up before using the extension clip to fasten your very first clip in the middle. Once that’s done, close the side clips. Take out the claw clip to let your hair fall down before you use the rattail comb to comb some of your hair down before you clip your hair up and attach the second hair extension. You’ll want to do the same for the sides of your head before you put your hair in a ponytail.
Rainbow Rage
If you’d like a more colorful look for the event, clip the top section of your hair back before you start to separate your hair at the crown of your head and add the hair extensions. Do the same as you would for the ponytail expect use hair extensions that have several colors on them.
Sweep It Under the Rug
No matter which look you opt for for your special event, you’ll want to make sure that your extensions are well-hidden. If you decide to sport a distressed bun, you’ll want to hide the hair extensions well. It’s best that you wear your bun low on your head so there’s less chance of someone spotting the extensions. It’s also a good idea to interweave the hair extensions between each section of your hair before you clip everything up on top of your head. Don’t be afraid to have some fun and mix and match your hair extension colors to complement your outfit.
When done right, a well-chosen wig or hair extensions can give you the right blend of style and confidence for your special event.
